Choose the Correct Hard Drive for Your Needs

What Hard Drive Should I Buy?

If you are looking to buy a new hard drive for your PC, or wondering if it’s better to have external storage or maybe you need to know exactly what a gigabyte is before even thinking further, then this information may help.
There are loads of hard drives out there and it’s important to do your research before making a decision and a purchase. This article will help you narrow down the choices.

The first thing to determine is if you need an external or internal hard drive. If you are totally tech stupid and are looking for the easiest way to add extra space to your PC then an external drive is the best.
They are small, easy to use and great to travel with. They make sharing information, photos and music with others very easy and are great for backing up your PC.

Internal hard drives are designed for expanding the storage of a single PC and cannot be shared like an external drive. Internal hard drives have the best storage capabilities, the highest performance and the best value for money.
Most PC cases have at least one hard drive bay (a place where you install a new hard drive), but make sure before buying a hard drive. Be sure that the case has enough space for another hard drive.

Now don’t panic but you'll also have to choose between the two interfaces: PATA (Parallel Advanced Technology Attachment, also known as IDE drives) and SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment). Ask your store attendant what will be best for your specific PC.

In most cases, SATA drives are a better choice for a few reasons—they're slightly faster, they're easier to connect, and they don't require you to configure jumpers as PATA drives do. However, the performance tends to be similar.

Next you will need to choose the correct size of hard drive. The size refers to the amount of data that is stored in the hard drive. If you use your PC for simple tasks such as word processing and internet browsing, then a hard drive with 8 to 10 gigabytes will be sufficient.
The smaller capacity hard drives will generally be cheaper and should only be used for basic computing needs.
However, if you plan to store much larger amounts of data like photos or music and movies, then a larger hard drive will be necessary to avoid running out of storage space.

Another important consideration is the speed of the hard drive. Hard drive speed is measured in revolutions per minute (RPM). A hard drive is basically a disk that rotates and a needle that reads the information on the disc or writes information to the disc.
The faster the disc spins the faster the hard drive will read and write information.
For the average user, 5400rpm will be sufficient, but if you do more complex tasks with your PC you may want to look at a hard drive that offers 7200rpm.

Extra Information:
Shop around. Hard drives come in different sizes to suit different storage needs, and they're priced very competitively. Spend a little time searching for a killer deal, and you'll certainly be glad you did.

Look out for warranties. In general, you should get at least a 3-year warranty on your hard drive.

Consider buying a hard-drive kit, which includes mounting hardware, cables, detailed instructions, and software that eases installation. A kit may also include an application for cloning the contents of your old hard drive onto the new one, which then becomes your new main drive.
If you've outgrown your existing storage, it may be easier and cheaper to upgrade a drive instead of buying an entirely new one. And if you're an avid gamer, opt for a drive with approximately 10,000 RPM.

What Causes Registry Errors?

What causes registry errors?

There is no one thing that causes registry errors, rather a number of small factors together causing the eventual outcome that your PC starts to run slower and slower.

Although many factors come into play to cause registry errors, here are a list of the more common causes of fragmentation and clogging of the Windows Registry.

When you uninstall a program, it may be incomplete and traces or fragments of that program will clog the registry.

Entries that are no longer useful to the running of the PC will also clutter the registry and cause the system to run slower.

Embedded keys or unwanted entries made by malicious programs like spyware, adware, viruses and Trojans will also increase the slowness of the registry.

Resulting empty spaces and fragments of entries will also make the registry cluttered.
All of the above factors compound and result in the Windows Registry errors and these errors pile up in the registry over time as we keep using the PC. As the size of these files keep growing and more entries get clogged in the registry, so it takes more time for the system to access the data it needs in the registry to function.

The system will eventually become very slow and sluggish and will result in error messages being displayed. It is important to correct these errors to ensure the health of your PC.

All your really need to do is to download an effective registry cleaners software onto your PC, run the scan, and let the cleaner do its magic of removing all the fragments, clogs and excess files. The registry cleaner will take the following action to keep your PC up to date and error free.

The Registry cleaner scans the entries registry and fixes registry problems. It removes the outdated entries without altering the valid entries. It de-fragments the registry to remove the empty spaces and fragments.

It cleans the embedded keys that are otherwise undetectable and used by malware.
If you want your PC to perform at its optimal level, it is necessary to scan your PC regularly for registry errors. You can access a FREE scan HERE
Once you have scanned your PC, let the registry cleaner do its job and clear up all the fragments, clogs and remove all malware to have your PC running like a dream. I have reviewed the top selling registry cleaners and found some revealing results, click to see this Registry Cleaner information.

PC Upgarde Anyone?

Do you feel like you want to smash your PC because it is not giving ultimate out put anymore?

PC technology is currently progressing at break neck speed and the PC you bought last week is already outdated! Believe it or not but thats the rate at which things move these days. But not to worry because there is an answer.

You can upgrade your PC by adding new components. But, prior to making up your mind on whether to upgrade the system or to buy new one, it is recommended that you find out what exactly is missing in your current system and what you are looking for in your system. Some of your wise decisions on upgrades could turn your PC into your desired future machine.

This might help you to avoid purchasing a new system for months or even for years. You might come to the conclusion that your existing PC does not meet up to your requirements. As a result you may decide to acquire a new PC that is faster and that holds the latest features with oceans of storage space. But before spending your hard earned money on this machine remember that most of us don't require too much in a PC.When can you upgrade the system?

To upgrade the system, the best thing to do is to take it or its specifications in to your local and trusted PC expert. Have then give you advice on whether it is in fact worth upgrading your specific system. You do not want to upgrade a PC that may not even be able to support the upgrade.

Upgrading the old/existing PC: Upgrading a computer is not a big deal. It needs some cautious steps and a systematic job done. However, it is suggested to get the help of a computer savvy companion.

Adding CD-RW Drive:CD-Drive facilitates you to add new software to your PC. If your PC does not have CD-RW drive, adding one is an easy up-grade that raises the convenience of your computer. You can make backups of your significant data or share photos, images music and many more things with friends and family.

And that's just the beginning.

Adding Graphics Card: A graphics card could ease the task to appear images pop up on your screen quicker; it also makes images sharper and higher-resolution. Make sure that your system is appropriate to install a graphic card, as some cards require advanced systems with speedy processors. If you are games savvy then this installation would be a recommended.

Adding Sound System: A sound card facilitates you to hear much better music. If you are interested in PC music then a new sound card and latest-technology speakers make a lot of difference. This will make legal downloads a pleasure too.

Upgrading Monitor: As most of the time we have to keep eyes on the screen, buying a latest, big monitor could be a better option then investing in a new PC. Most of the latest monitors are developed to ease stress to your eyes. They are bigger, clearer and mostly flat, so they take up much less space.

Upgrading Memory: This is the most important thing in your system up-gradation. Upgrading your PC's memory is the best way to make its performance climb. If your PC is two years old or more than probably it would only 64MB or 128MB of RAM. Upgrading your PC with 256MB of RAM would make increase in speed.

Upgrading Hard Drive: Your existing old PC most likely came containing just 10GB / 20GB hard drive. Upgrading hard drive would definitely drive more convenience to your PC. There are lot many things to upgrade your existing PC to raise its output, but before you upgrade make one list what to upgrade. Find out what it would benefit you and dont forget to budget for your up grade.

If you find that all your planned up grades reach close the price of a new PC, well them answer is obvious. Purchase a new better machine with all your requirements.

With all these types of upgrades it is very important to get the input of a tech-savvy and trust worthy person to make your decision an informed one.

PC Care Tips-Prevention Better Than Cure

A home PC is used by different kinds of users, each with different levels of computer knowledge and different age group. In fact, the roughest use of a PC is at home, so these personal computers are more prone to have problems. With a little effort and knowledge you can sort out these day to day problems, rather than waiting for your IT troubleshooter to come to your place and fix the issues.

Following are some 'Must Do' guidelines for smooth functioning of your personal computer:

Stay Organized – Save all your documents, music, videos, software, and other data in an organized manner. Create different folders to share them inside a folder with you name. It will help you in finding them during your next use, as well as reducing the chances of unnecessary cluttering of your hard disk. But remember one thing, never save your files into System Drive, the drive on which the operating system is installed.

Regular PC Maintenance – Be strict to routine maintenance of your PC, these maintenance tasks include Disk Defragmentation, Disk Cleanup, Temporary Files Deletion and clearing your Cache. It may seem a bit time consuming and useless at first, but when you do it on regular interval it will take less time, and these are really important for smooth functioning of your computer. Because it helps in freeing up unused memory clusters, and proper storage arrangement of all your data. You can find Disk Defragment and Disk Cleanup utility under System Tools Sub-menu in Accessories Menu. Alternatively you can open Windows Explorer, select any drive, then go to properties by right clicking and you will see both the utilities there.

Removal of Unused Software – There are several software and plug-ins which are installed automatically when you browse the internet, or you install them at various point of time for testing or other purposes. Remove such installed software which is no longer in use.

Remember, prevention is better than cure. By keeping your PC well maintained you will extend its life and increase its performance.

FREE tips for losing belly fat

However much we wish it was easy to lose belly fat quickly unfortunately this is not the case. It will require dedication and discipline to achieve rapid belly fat loss. However, just because it is difficult does not mean it cannot be done. Here are a few tips and techniques to help you lose belly fat quickly:

Contrary to popular belief a lot of crunches, leg lifts and other abdominal specific exercises will not help you lose belly fat quickly. It will surely strengthen your abdominal muscles though, and when you manage to melt the bulge around your middle away you'll have a nice six pack to show off so the effort will not be entirely wasted.

You might be breathing a sigh of relief right now if you were not looking forward to an intense exercise program. Don't get too excited though. Exercise remains a key component of any plan to lose belly fat quickly, and both cardiovascular exercise and weight training will be important for you to achieve your rapid weight loss goals.

Any form of cardiovascular exercise will be beneficial, and does not need to be of high intensity to achieve results. However, you will need to spend a minimum of 30-60 minutes a day if you want to achieve rapid belly fat loss. The reason for this is that your body will not start to burn fat immediately. First it will deplete your glycogen stores, and only once that reservoir has been drained will it turn to fat as an energy source.

Weight training is also important in helping you lose belly fat quickly. The development of lean muscle will actually increase your metabolism and serve as a fat burning furnace even at rest. Do not ignore weight training as part of your exercise regimen.

Finally, a proper diet cannot be ignored if you want to lose belly fat quickly. High fat foods like chips, burgers, and pizza are tasty and convenient, but you will never make any progress if you don't limit these foods in your diet. They are fine as an occasional treat providing you've been adhering to your exercise program, but they cannot be a core component of your overall diet. Instead focus on foods like lean meats, vegetables, fruits, nuts and grains. These foods will give your body the energy it needs without the extra calories that erase your progress in your attempt to lose belly fat.

If you stick to these three simple techniques you should start to see the pounds melt off in no time at all, and if you add in regular abdominal exercises you could be sporting a ripped six pack next time you head to the beach.

Free Weight Loss Advice

Here's your first weight loss nugget: Just because somebody has muscles doesn't mean should automatically take their weight loss advice.

I'm going to give you a few tips, some free weight loss advice that really works. Use this advice and you will lose weight.

5 tips for maximum weight loss:

One: Never begin a diet with a half-hearted attempt. The mere thought of giving a new a diet a "try" is good enough reason why you will fail. Like Yoda once said to Luke Skywalker, "There is no try. Only do or not do." Live by those words.

Two: Reserve yourself in advance to focusing 100% for 3 strong weeks on your weight loss efforts. That means planning your meals, planning your workouts, making sure you write down your goals. Keep your head down and focused for 3 weeks. By the end of that time you will see your first results.

Three: Do not live on the scale. The scale is one of the biggest culprits for derailing weight loss success. If the scale doesn't read how you'd like it to read, your whole day has a chance of being destroyed. And so does your weight loss.

Free weight loss advice bonus tip: You can expect to lose 5-10 pounds in the first 2 weeks if you only increase your water intake and begin walking.

Four: Eliminate as much negativity as you can. There will be weight loss doubters. There will be people who secretly wish you to fail behind you back. Don't fret. Just recognize it and remove it as quickly as you can. When you do lose the weight, don't hold a grudge. Just smile and hope for better things for those that doubted your weight loss power.

Five: When disaster strikes in the form of depression or a diet breakdown. Pick yourself back up immediately and begin again. Seize the moment and renew your weight loss commitment. Rededicate yourself by writing a letter of forgiveness to yourself.

There's your free weight loss advice that really works. Use it and go out and grab your new tighter, slimmer body. Hey, you deserve it, right?

The Best Way To Fire Up Your Metabolism,

The Best Way To Fire Up Your Metabolism,Burn Fat Fast & Developing Lasting Health
By Rob Poulos, Fat Loss & Fitness Expert & Creator of 'Fat Burning Furnace'
Ask ten people what type of exercise they should be doing to burn fat and fire up their metabolism and they’ll all probably tell you the same thing. They’ll tell you that you need to do 30-40 minutes of moderately-paced aerobic exercise on a treadmill, elliptical machine, stair climber, etc. for 3-5 times per week.
They’ll probably also tell you that more is better…4 times per week would be better than 3, and 5 times per week would be even better.
People will tell you this because that’s been and continues to be the mainstream recommendation for fat burning by many fitness professionals. Get in a certain target heart rate and stay at that heart rate for 30 minutes or so, several times per week. I am here to tell you there is a better way.
Sure, you’ll burn some calories while you’re running to nowhere on a treadmill, but you won’t make a complete physique transformation with this type of exercise alone.
In fact, this type of exercise can actually be counterproductive to burning fat. Here are just a couple of reasons:
Long duration, lower intensity aerobics calls upon your stored body fat for energy during the sessions. While this may sound good, this can actually cause your body to create more body fat in reserve after the workout is over to have ready for your next workout. Yikes!
What's worse, this type of exercise when done frequently as typically suggested, trains your cardiovascular system to be efficient. Again, while this sounds good, your heart and lungs can actually reduce their capacity for work as they are getting more efficient at doing easy work (your long duration, low intensity aerobic workouts), which reduces their ability to handle stress.
This can lead to a host of other problems including higher change of heart attack. You are only working within your current aerobic capacity because you're never challenging it to go beyond what it's capable of. And anything that is easy will not yield results even close to what’s challenging for the body to accomplish.
Instead, you should be challenging the body to increase its capacity, so that it is stronger and able to deal with stress more easily. How is this done?
The fastest and most efficient way to rev up your metabolism, burn fat faster, and develop lifelong health and fitness is to add lean muscle to your body through resistance training - period. You want life changing results in the quickest possible time? Get stronger and build some muscle. When you add lean muscle to your body you’ll be literally turning your body into a fat burning machine!
Let’s say that you were eating the amount of calories that allow you to maintain your current bodyweight, but began to add lean muscle to your body through proper resistance training…you’ll need to use some of those calories you’re eating to feed the new muscle, creating a calorie deficit in your body.
In addition, when you stimulate your body with proper resistance training like I teach my students, the repair and growth process will call upon your stored body fat for energy. This calorie deficit combined with the repair and growth process will allow you to burn fat all day long, every day. You’ll even get these fat burning effects when you’re sitting around doing nothing at all.
Also, properly conducted resistance training actually increases your heart and lung's capacity for work. By placing intense demands on your body, it is forced into being ready for anything you throw at it. This makes you more resistant to cardiovascular health problems that plague most people...even those that exercise with aerobics frequently.
And the beauty is I’ve discovered that you don’t have to spend much time working out to get the fat loss effects, and strength and muscle gains that will create this environment…you can actually get it done with 2 or 3 weekly workouts that last between 20 and 30 minutes, and even less time at an advanced level.
And it’s easy to make this type of exercise part of your life because of its efficiency…and it will help keep you lean and healthy for the rest of it...muscle is the stuff that fat burning furnaces are made of! That I can promise you.

Your Health Is In Your Hands

Fat Loss products cram the shelves at drug stores and get plugged on TV all the time, but how effective are they really?

Drug companies create and market thousands of different products that claim huge weight loss and incredible benefits, yet people all around the world continue to get fatter each year.

Our food companies are no better at looking after our health, heart disease and diabetes are on the rise too.

The average guy in the street is bombarded with great copy writing and false promises and led to believe that this great new product is going to be tastiest thing he has ever eaten. He gets fat from eating it and then turns to a diet pill…….do you see a pattern developing.

I bet the food and drug companies work together to keep us fat and unhealthy.

People need to realise that they need to become educated about what they are putting in their bodies. Do research and be sure that what you eat is in fact good for you and will not cause cancer or heart disease 10 years down the line.

Bottom line is eat right and exercise.

I have compiled a short list of quality products that I have researched and found to be effective and healthy fat loss programs. No pills and potions here, just healthy regulated eating and exercise plans.

No need to be diet guru to understand these plans, they are simple and easy to use.
I have published a comparison chart and review of these products online and you can view it here.

I have also published a few articles about effective and healthy weight loss and some FREE recipes. You can also sign up for the news letter and special offers.

Remember, your health is your wealth. It is also your responsibility, so take good care of yourself and live a long and happy life.

Do the Research. Compare Registry Cleaners Before You Buy

Choosing a Registry Cleaner can be a very confusing task, there is so much information on the net with so many conflicting reports about each Registry fix product.

Comparing the registry cleaners side by side is the easiest way to make a choice. By researching the pros and cons for each registry fix product you can make an informed choice with confidence.

While most registry cleaner products have the same basic attributes, some really stand out for their extra features such as being able to manage start up programs to make your pc faster when switching on. Compare features to make sure you will be getting the result you want.

Price is another consideration, your budget may dictate what registry fix product you can afford, so once you know what price range you fall into, do a comparison of all the products in that range to see what is the best value.

Most registry fix sites will offer a free scan to prospective clients, this allows you to scan your pc and discover exactly what errors are slowing it down or making it less efficient. Once the errors have been isolated, it is your choice to then purchase the product to rid the registry of said errors.

Alternatively you can remove all the errors by yourself, but this is time consuming and risky, especially if you are not very experienced in this field. You could remove an essential file or program without knowing, leaving your pc useless.

Registry cleaners are essential now that we are online so much and picking up extra information on the web that we never use, and this just ends up slowing your pc down and causing unnecessary frustration.

Choose a registry cleaner that’s best for you and your pocket and you will be very happy you did. It will give you back all that time wasted.

Animal Anti-Cruelty League

I was a visitor to the AACL this morning and I must compliment them on their service to the community and their patience with the pushing crowd.

I had to take our little Bella for a checkup, she hadnt been eating for the last 2 days and was getting so weak. She is a 2 week old Boerboel and was the runt of the litter you see. She was just too weak to fend for herself when it came to procuring a nipple and in a litter of 10 they are in high demand!

Bella has been with us for 9 days now and has already wriggled into a soft spot in our hearts, and even though she may be totally blind(not sure yet), she is a part of the family and will remain so.

Even Ben likes her(Ben: 5 month old Rottweiler/Bull Terrier X)

Back to the AACL, apart from the long queue, the whole experience was kinda cool. It is a great show they run and they are really helping those of us that cannot afford the outrageous vet fees at the other guys. I mean do we have to pay for the Porsche?

I am so thankful after receiving the bill from Tygerberg Animal Hospital last week for an after hours visit, that I could pay R40 to have little Bella looked at and get drugs administered.

Thanx to you AACL and all your lovely staff caring for our pets in hard times.
The pic is Ben BTW
